Land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), 30 km east of central Bangkok. Indian passport holders enter visa-free for 60 days under Thailand's Form 60 exemption, extendable once by 30 days. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is mandatory and must be submitted online at least three days before you travel — you present the QR code at immigration. Allow 45–60 minutes into the city, considerably more at rush hour.
Grand Palace admits visitors 08:30 to 15:30 and enforces its dress code strictly — covered shoulders and knees, no exceptions and no refunds if you are turned away. Wat Pho adjoins it and holds the 46-metre gold-leaf reclining Buddha. The Chao Phraya express boat is the fastest way between the riverside temples and costs a fraction of a taxi. Wat Arun sits on the opposite bank, its prang encrusted with broken Chinese porcelain.
Pattaya lies about 150 km south-east on the Gulf coast — around two hours by road on Highway 7, longer leaving Bangkok on a Friday. Note the geography: Pattaya faces the Gulf of Thailand, not the Andaman Sea, so the water is calmer and less clear than Phuket or Krabi, and the seasons run differently. The beach road runs the length of the bay.
Ko Lan — Coral Island — sits about 7 km offshore, 45 minutes by ferry or 15 by speedboat, and has the clear water Pattaya bay itself lacks. Back on the mainland, the Sanctuary of Truth is the thing worth seeing: an entirely wooden temple on the shore, carved and rebuilt continuously since 1981 and still unfinished. Afternoon free.
Breakfast, then the road back to Suvarnabhumi — two hours in clear conditions, but Bangkok's approach roads are unpredictable and this is the transfer people underestimate. Leave a wide margin. International departures need three hours at check-in.
