Land at Phuket International (HKT) at the north of the island. Indian passport holders enter visa-free for 60 days under Thailand's Form 60 exemption; the Thailand Digital Arrival Card must be filed online at least three days before you fly. Transfer south to the beaches is 45–60 minutes — Patong busiest, Kata and Karon calmer, Bang Tao and Mai Khao quietest of all.
North-east of Phuket, Phang Nga Bay is a flooded karst landscape — limestone towers standing straight out of shallow water, with sea caves and hongs, collapsed cave systems open to the sky, reachable only by canoe at the right tide. Ko Tapu, the James Bond island, is the famous stop and the most crowded. Longtail boats are slower than speedboats and much the better way to see it.
Krabi sits on the mainland across the bay — 165 km by road around the head of Phang Nga, three to four hours, or a shorter ferry-and-transfer combination. Ao Nang is the base. Railay to the south has no roads at all: limestone headlands cut it off completely and access is by longtail from Ao Nang, about 15 minutes across.
Phi Phi is reached only by boat. Ferries leave Krabi's Klong Jilad Pier and take one to two hours depending on the vessel, with high-speed services running 60–90 minutes to Tonsai Pier. There are no cars on Phi Phi Don — the island runs on foot, bicycle and longtail, and luggage is carried by handcart from the pier. Crossings are calmest in the morning.
Phi Phi Leh, the uninhabited southern island, holds Maya Bay. It reopened under strict conditions after closure for reef recovery: swimming in the bay itself is prohibited, boats moor at Loh Samah on the far side, and the bay closes annually through August and September. Bamboo Island to the north has the better swimming. Viewpoint 2 on Phi Phi Don is a steep twenty-minute climb for the view across the twin bays.
Breakfast, then the ferry back — one to two hours to Krabi or around two hours to Phuket's Rassada Pier, plus the road transfer to whichever airport you fly from. This is a long departure day and the boat schedule sets it, not you. Build in real buffer; afternoon seas are rougher and delays are normal in the monsoon months.
