Land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), Bangkok's main international gateway about 30 km east of the centre. Indian passport holders now enter visa-free for 60 days under Thailand's Form 60 exemption, extendable by a further 30 days at an immigration office. One thing that catches people out: the Thailand Digital Arrival Card is compulsory and must be filed online at least three days before you fly — you show the QR code at immigration. Expect 45–60 minutes into the city, longer in evening traffic.
The three sit within walking and ferry distance of each other on the Chao Phraya. Grand Palace opens 08:30 and stops admitting at 15:30, and the dress code is enforced without exception — shoulders and knees covered. Wat Pho next door holds the 46-metre reclining Buddha and is also Thailand's oldest massage school. Cross the river by public ferry for Wat Arun, whose central prang is climbable up genuinely steep steps. Go early; by eleven the palace courtyards are full.
Bangkok to Phuket is a 90-minute flight — around 840 km, which is why nobody drives it. Phuket International (HKT) sits at the north of the island and most beach areas are a further 45–60 minutes south by road. Patong is the busy centre, Kata and Karon quieter, Bang Tao and Mai Khao quieter still. Evening free to find your bearings.
Phi Phi lies about 45 km east of Phuket — roughly two hours by large ferry from Rassada Pier, under an hour by speedboat. The islands are limestone karst rising straight out of the water, with Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh the best known. Maya Bay reopened under restrictions: swimming in the bay itself is not permitted and it closes annually through August and September for reef recovery. Seas are calmest in the morning.
A free day. Phuket Old Town is the surprise for most visitors — Sino-Portuguese shophouses along Thalang Road from the tin-mining era, and the best coffee on the island. The Big Buddha sits on Nakkerd Hill with a view across to Chalong Bay. Phang Nga Bay day trips run from the east coast if you want more karst scenery. Andaman-coast weather is most reliable November to April; May to October brings the southwest monsoon.
Breakfast, then the run north to Phuket International — 45–60 minutes from most beaches and longer in high season. International departures want three hours. If you are connecting through Bangkok, note that Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang are separate airports about 50 km apart, and a same-day switch between them is tight.
